Ner Tamid Greenspring Valley Synagogue, in the heart of the Baltimore Jewish Community, is a vibrant Modern Orthodox congregation, which welcomes a broad array of identifying Jewish families, and offers them exciting programming to grow religiously and spiritually.
Ner Tamid has a rich history in the Baltimore area. In the 1950’s the Ner Tamid congregation was created as a merger between two smaller Baltimore shuls. Under the spiritual leadership of Rabbi Herschel Leibowitz z’’l Ner Tamid grew from a couple dozen families to over 600 member families. To accommodate this growth, a beautiful new building was constructed to accommodate a large sanctuary, social hall, Beis Medresh, youth room, Library and 10 class rooms.
The beautiful main sanctuary seats over 500, but can be opened up to the adjoining social hall to seat the over 1200 people who daven here on the High Holidays. The social hall, where we hold Shabbos kiddushes, Seudot Shlishet, and simchot, from bar and bat mitzvah luncheons to weddings, accommodates seating for over 300.
